Geary’s Bakery having been baking bread since 1906 when it opened its very first bakery in Ratby, Leicestershire.

The building which dates back to 1894 was vacant and in serious disrepair. The Astill planning team worked with our client to deliver 12 houses and two flats in the conversion of the former bakery. A public consultation was held and the design was approved by the Parish council who were keen to see the building restored.

The Co-op was seen as integral to the scheme and linked closely with the existing building. The housing to the rear compliments the scheme and follows the brick detailing of the former bakery.
